S&C’s Artwork FAQs

We know that buying original artwork is a big decision.
We encourage you to contact us for further details about any piece you’re interested in (we actually prefer to work with collectors directly so we can tailor a sale to the individual’s needs).

In the meantime, this page may answer some of your questions.

Presentation

Our studio standard is to present all artwork mounted with a black mat that has a white core. We feel this is the best way to present our work and what we first envisioned while creating it.

All materials we use are carefully selected, high-quality archival products. Every piece, from negative to framing, is produced by the artists in the studio.

When ordering, the options are:

  • Mat only – The piece is mounted and matted; all you need to do is place it in a frame. The art will be shipped securely in shrink wrap to protect it.

  • Framed – We use a minimalist, sleek black metal frame for all of our art and use conservation glass.

Shipping & Delivery

Every piece of artwork that leaves the studio is shipped with the utmost care (you won’t believe how we package it until you see it!). We want them to arrive to you exactly how we first envisioned the piece.

  • UPS and FedEx are our preferred shippers. Currently, we ship within the U.S.; contact the studio for rates elsewhere.

  • Packaging is probably overboard, but we can breathe a sigh of relief when each piece is delivered safely (especially with glass!). Please reuse or recycle any packing material.

  • Local pick-up at the studio and hands-on delivery are absolutely available (and preferred). If you’re somewhere around northeastern Iowa, we can likely work out an arrangement (studio pick-up is free; a fee may apply to delivery, depending on location). Just contact us before buying a piece on the website.

  • The time that it takes to prepare a particular print for shipping will vary based on that artwork. Many are ready to ship out within 1 week, but some may require 2-3 weeks to prepare (it is the nature of handmade artwork in a 2-person studio). If you want something within a particular timeframe or want to know when a piece would ship, contact us.
